Ocean Lakes Welcomes Harley-Davidson Spring Rally Riders

The Harley-Davidson Spring Rally in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina is quickly approaching, and Ocean Lakes Family Campground is excited and ready to welcome bikers!

With the current construction along Highway 17, we wanted to send out some helpful information for all guests.

Due to SCDOT Construction | If you will be heading North towards Myrtle Beach, use the South Gate. However, if you will be heading South towards Surfside Beach, then use Spring Lane to the Main Gate traffic light to make a left turn, which will lead you southbound.

For Your Safety | We encourage guests to avoid the South Gate when heading South. Making a U-Turn at the traffic light is potentially hazardous due to the southbound traffic flow from Highway 544.

Bike Weeks’ South Gate Hours |
Opens: May 9, 2019 - May 18, 2019 à 8 AM - Midnight
Closes: May 19, 2019 à 8 AM - 4 PM

Motorcycle Policies | We want all of our guests who are here for the Spring Rally to have a fun, safe visit. Here are a few, friendly reminders to help you make the most of your stay at Ocean Lakes.

Guests are not allowed to ride motorcycles through the campground. Rope and motorcycle dolly towing are permitted to and from your rental site or campsite. Ocean Lakes does not allow bikers beyond the front area of the campground to ensure the noise does not bother guests who are relaxing. While we have a number of bikers who stay with us, we also have non-bikers staying here.

The following is not allowed in Ocean Lakes:

·      Riding motorcycles beyond the designated area at the entrance (signs mark the boundaries where bikes are allowed).
·      Coasting – Not under power, but with a guest sitting on the seat.
·      Three-wheel rides, such as Can-Am Spyders and Polaris Slingshots, must follow motorcycle rules. They are not allowed in the campground and must park in the designated motorcycle lot by the South Gate.

Motorcycle Parking | Ocean Lakes has a designated area for free motorcycle parking at the South Gate entrance. You must be a registered guest of Ocean Lakes and have a campground-issued orange wristband attached to the bike’s handlebars to park in this area.

Guests should pick up the orange wristband for their motorcycle in the Main Office when they check in. If the office is closed, you can get a wristband from the Main Gate or South Gate. Your site number will be on the wristband, which gives our team a quick way of contacting the bike’s owner, if needed.

For bikers’ convenience, there are two unloading ramps available in the parking area by the South Gate.

Cars and vehicles can park by the South Gate, but only in the closest section to U.S. 17 Business, which is separated from the bikes and designated with signs as vehicle parking.

Trailer Parking | Guests can park their utility trailers at their site if it safely and completely fits on their rental site or campsite.

If that does not work, trailer parking will be available in our West Lot, which is across the street from the campground with easy access off Highway 544. The cost will be $5 per day.

This area is only for trailer storage; however, you will not have 24-hour access to park your motorcycle inside the trailer at the end of the day.

Unloading | Guests can unload their motorcycles at the South Gate parking lot or in the West Lot trailer storage area off Highway 544 across the street from the campground.

We recommend that you do not unload motorcycles at your rental site or campsite unless you have a tow dolly. Remember, you will not be able to ride your motorcycle from your site.

Join The Ocean Lakes Team

The campground is in full swing and we are gearing up for a great Summer season! We have begun to do one of the most important tasks to get ready for the busy Summer season, which is hiring the right people for our team.

Ocean Lakes Family Campground will add about 300 teammates for the Summer, including lifeguards, snack bar cooks and cashiers, recreation activities counselors, maintenance crew members, and more.

Perks | Recruiting is underway for part-time and full-time positions that come with a variety of benefits, such as weekly paychecks, discounts, and access to our amenities when you are off work. The amenities include the Sandy Harbor Waterpark, Sandy Harbor Game Room, Sandy’s Down Under Skatepark, the Nature Center, and beachfront access!

What Are We Looking For? | Our team, which swells to more than 500 during the Summer, is a hard-working bunch that helps make Ocean Lakes a special place for all. Each teammate focuses on providing friendly and helpful customer service with the goal of putting smiles on all our guests’ faces.

We need teammates who like to have fun and help our guests have fun. Teammates who not only respond to guests’ questions, but are always looking for ways to go above and beyond to help our guests create family memories that will last a lifetime.

“Ocean Lakes Family Campground is actively seeking energetic and motivated candidates to join our team,” said Bonita Engelman, Human Resources Manager for The Jackson Companies, the parent company of Ocean Lakes Family Campground. “We are committed to maintaining the excellent service that our guests are accustomed to and that takes hiring the best of the best.”

If you have a passion for customer service, we will teach you the skills needed to excel on our team.

Lifeguards | One of the biggest needs in our campground is for lifeguards at our Sandy Harbor Waterpark, which opened in 2016 and features slides, a lazy river, pools, and a splash zone for kids.

Want to be a lifeguard but are not certified? No problem. We will provide the Red Cross Training for Certification. If you are already a Certified Lifeguard, you may be eligible to receive a sign-on bonus.

“Our Lifeguards are trained on site by our own Supervisors to ensure that our pools and waterpark facilities remain a safe, healthy, and enjoyable asset to our guests,” Engelman said. “We have many Lifeguards that are Students, EMT Responders, and Teachers that return each Summer for their “fun job”.”
