Please Do Not Feed The Waterfowl

Do you enjoy feeding the ducks, geese, and waterfowl at Ocean Lakes Family Campground? We ask that you no longer feed them since it is now illegal in Horry County.   There is a new Horry County Ordinance (Ord. No. 69-07, 5-15-07) that was passed this year regarding feeding migratory and domestic waterfowl (geese, swans, ducks, cormorants, etc.). It is now illegal in Horry County to feed any of these animals, unless you are on a Wildlife Management Area (WMA) property. Ordinance Purpose | To prevent such conduct that may attract and concentrate migratory and domestic waterfowl to or near residential properties in Horry County. It has been determined that the presence of large numbers of waterfowl can cause a public nuisance by contaminating lakes and ponds, and even causing erosion. Ordinance Prohibits Feeding | No person shall feed, cause to be fed, or provide food for domestic or migratory waterfowl in residential areas of Horry County. No person shall create or foster

Memorial Day Weekend Update: Traffic Loop, Highway 17 Construction, and the South Gate

With Memorial Day Weekend quickly approaching, Ocean Lakes is here to keep you in-the-know on what to expect when traveling to, from, and around Myrtle Beach, SC this holiday season.  Traffic Loop | There will be many motorcycles on the roads and a late-night traffic loop that includes Ocean Boulevard in Myrtle Beach, SC (about 3 miles North of the campground). The Basic Information | Thousands of visitors will be along the Grand Strand for Atlantic Beach Bikefest. The 23-mile traffic loop that we have had for the last few years will be in place from 10 PM to 2 AM on Friday through Monday (May 24th – May 27th). This project aims to keep traffic flowing on Ocean Boulevard. How To Navigate The Traffic Loop | - Start at 29th Avenue North and Ocean Boulevard - Continue South to Kings Highway near Myrtle Beach Airport - The loop will go up Harrelson Boulevard to U.S. 501 - Northbound U.S. 31 to U.S. 17 Bypass and back to 29th Avenue North Whe
