A Summer of Fun at Ocean Lakes
The
Ocean Lakes Team wants you and your family having fun this Summer! We have been
preparing and planning for a Summer everyone is sure to remember. Our 2019
Summer Season will run from June 3rd through August 11th,
and we hope to see you in the campground!
Summer Activities Guide | If you vacationed with us during the
2018 Summer Season, then you may remember the handy-dandy Summer Activities
Guide. Well, it is back and packed with even more exciting activities! This
guide will be made available to all guests during the week of Memorial Day
Weekend. All guests will be able to pick up their copy in the Main Office,
Recreation Center, and all other offices in the campground.
Sneak Peak | In the meantime, we are giving you a
sneak-peak of what is to come this Summer at Ocean Lakes Family Campground. While
we will be bringing back a few of everyone’s favorite activities, we will also
be increasing the fun-meter quite a bit by adding a few new surprises!
Here
are four new surprises to the Summer Activities Guide:
1. Corn Toss (Tournament - Monday, Tuesday,
Thursday, Saturday at 12:30 PM) – Stop by the Recreation Office to sign out
Corn Toss bags for two hours of Corn Toss fun! The Corn Toss Tournament will
now be held at the new location, which is beachfront beside the Horseshoe Pits.
There is no fee to play, and you must be 12 years old and up to sign up for the
Corn Toss Tournament. Winners will receive sweet prizes!
2. Sunrise Stretching (Tuesday and Thursday
at 8 AM) – Start your morning off the beach way! Join our qualified instructor
on the Observation Deck to enjoy the peaceful sunrise while performing
stretching techniques combined with mild yoga. You must be 12 years old and up
to participate, and there is no fee.
3. Sandy’s Star Party (Thursday at 8 PM) –
Join us for an evening of star-gazing fun on the lawn of the Nature Center!
Learn to use a telescope, name the nearby constellations, and participate in
exciting star crafts and astronomy games. This activity is open to all ages and
there is no fee. There must be five individuals signed up for this event to occur
and sign up is required at the Nature Center by 5 PM on Thursday.
4. Sandy’s Butterfly Bonanza – Come explore
the exciting life cycle of butterflies in our new exhibit located outside on
the back lawn of the Nature Center! This exhibit features multiple native and
migratory species of butterflies of the East Coast. See different life stages
from egg to caterpillar to chrysalis to butterfly and learn about the host
plants for each species. Tours of Sandy’s Butterfly Bonanza will be on Friday’s
from 12 PM to 1:30 PM every 10 minutes from June 7th to August 9th.
Until Next Time | We hope you enjoy this sneak peak of what is to come this Summer at
everyone’s home away from home. See you in Ocean Lakes real soon!
