Campsite Sweets | An Ocean Lakes How-To

Image
When on vacation, cooking is not always a favorite, which is when guests turn to the Meet n’ Eat for the tasty food and treats (who can say no to the Blue Bell Ice Cream?!). While I love the Meet n’ Eat just as much as all of our guests (have you tried their thin crust pizza?!), cooking over a campfire has its advantages!  Plan a night to make dessert at the campsite and let the kids help! Below are 5 kid-friendly recipes and tricks for making sweets at the campsite that the family will love. This will create a lasting memory for everyone, and maybe even a new tradition! Let’s get to cooking at the campsite – Follow along for sweet campsite recipes |  Pancakes | I know I said plan a “night” for dessert, but pancakes for breakfast are pretty SWEET! Fluffy pancakes are the perfect start to any day, especially on vacation. Leave the messy method at home and use a bottle to make these at the campsite! Make life easier (and cleaner) and get rid of the bowl-pouring method. Grab an empty con

We like to have fun, but we LOVE when our guests have fun! Our Recreation Team works year-round to provide and host fun activities and events for our guests. They do their research and even test out the activities for themselves! We take note of what our guests thoroughly enjoy each year, and there are a few activities that stand out above the rest.  But first – We are adding new activities to the calendar this Summer | New Show - Bryan Dangerous | Tuesday nights throughout Summer, join us in the Recreation Center for a Comedy Juggling Act filled with lots of laughs and audience interaction with Bryan Dangerous! New – Music Bingo and  Stupid Trivia  | Everyone will get a piece of paper with song titles as the Bingo Card. We will play a clip from a song and participants will have to guess what the song title is to mark on their Bingo Card. We will give clues and each round is categorized.  Stupid Trivia will have different categories for each different round with 10 questions per round

Camping Courtesies

Ahh, the weather is warming up and the sun is staying out a little longer, which means it is time to hit the beach in a camper for vacation! We remind guests to remember their beach towels and sunscreen, their car passes and golf car registration stickers. However, one thing we tend to leave out at times are camping courtesies (some things are not common knowledge).  Calling all campers, beginners and pros, let’s talk the do’s and don’ts of camping etiquette |  Quiet Hours | Most, if not all, campgrounds have set hours that ask their guests to quiet down for the night. Our Quiet Hours are from 11 PM to 7 AM . This does not make us or any campground the “fun police,” but it does allow for the campers around you to get a good night sleep. Everyone is here to relax and have a good time, and to do so, we all need our rest at the end of the day.  Turn The Volume Down | This is a big one around here, and we all know it is the truth. Yes, we all love our music and yes, music is good for the
