RV There, Yet? | When You Store With Ocean Lakes, The Answer Is Yes!

Want to know how you can save time, gas, and prevent ‘wear and tear’ to your vehicle? Store your camper with Ocean Lakes Camper Storage! Did you know we store travel trailers and 5th wheels, including Goose Neck style and short bed modified, such as SuperGlide and Pull-Rite, and even Motorhomes? It is true!

This week, we are diving into Camper Storage and giving you the scoop on the process and the pros. Let’s hear from Kellie, the Main Office Administrative Coordinator!

Ocean Lakes | For anyone wanting to store their camper with us, what steps do they need to take?

Kellie | First off, you must be a current guest, have a future reservation with us, or have stored with us in the past. Then, your camper must be here, unless a company, such as Camping World, is delivering the camper. We will need the registration (make, model, and vin number of camper), length, slides (front and back), the color scheme, license plate number, and we will need to know if there is an awning. To finalize everything, we will need the guest to sign paperwork.

Ocean Lakes | What fees are included with Camper Storage?

Kellie | For storage and transport from the lot to your site and back, guests are charged a quarterly fee. Rates can be found on the Ocean Lakes website.

Ocean Lakes | What are the pros of storing with Ocean Lakes?

Kellie | There are quite a few pros, actually! Convenience, competitive pricing, we are a private-closed facility, 24-hour security, limited access to lots, and storing with us prevents wear and tear on your vehicle. There are no pull fees for Ocean Lakes campsite reservations that are made two days prior.

Ocean Lakes | What is one helpful tip you have for guests?

Kellie | I highly recommend auto-pay! This is a separate form and you include your credit card information. Your credit card will be charged the quarterly fee the day bills go out, which is one month prior to the start of each quarter.

Ocean Lakes | What is a misconception or confusing part about storing your camper with Ocean Lakes?

Kellie | When making a reservation, the name on the reservation must match the name the camper is stored under, or the name must be listed as an authorized user. This is a separate form, and these users are only allowed to use the camper for camping and are not able to make any changes. There is a new feature on the Authorized User Form that allows Storage Camper Owners to include a date range, which tells how long a user is authorized to use the camper.

Motorhomes | Guests must come into the Main Office and be escorted to the Storage Area by Security where they will drive their motorhome to and from their reserved site. The Storage and Transport Team continues to make improvements to better serve our valued guests. Our Team now offers convenient pull-through Motorhome parking in our secured trailer Storage Lot. This extra space allows for a single axle car dolly to remain attached to your Motorhome while in Storage, at no additional fee.

Travel Trailers | When preparing your trailer to return to Storage, on a bumper pull camper, place the hitch in a “nose down” position approximately 6-8 inches from the ground. This final action will indicate to our Storage Team that your camper is ready for its return to Storage or moved to another site.

5th Wheels and Goosenecks | 5th Wheels and Goosenecks can be left in a level position for pick-up when it is ready to be returned to Storage. We can transport SuperGlide and Pull-Rite style 5th Wheel hitches (short bed modified 5th wheel campers).

Helpful Hints For First Timers |

1.    Remove any equipment from the tongue.
2.    Expose the light cord.
3.    Check tire pressure.
4.    Sewer hose needs to be at least 20 feet in length.
5.    Inform us if you have a storage box or rack on the back of the camper.
6.    Remember that campsite check-in time is 3 PM. Ocean Lakes Storage Teammates do their best to have your camper on site as soon as possible but cannot guarantee your camper will be on site when you arrive.

When Departing Helpful Hints |

1.    Remember check-out time is 11 AM.
2.    Close all top vents, windows, doors, and all storage compartments.
3.    Secure awning properly.
4.    Turn off LP gas.
5.    Put steps in travel position.
6.    Close all sewer valves and secure end cap.
7.    Make sure all stabilizer jacks are as high up as possible to ensure proper clearance when camper is pulled off the site.
8.    Lower TV antenna.
9.    Secure carpets or any other items that you decide to store behind the LP gas tanks or on the rear bumper. No items should touch the ground or road surface.
10. Place all trash near the white line designated for trash pick-up. Please do not place any trash or debris in front of the trailer tongue.
11. Take one final walk around the camper to be sure all is secure and ready to be pulled off site.

Reservations | In order to have your Storage Camper pulled on site, you must make a reservation. Contact the Main Office at 1-877-510-1413 no later than two days prior to your arrival. However, be mindful that Camper Storage does not guarantee that we have a site available. Remember to plan ahead for Summer, holidays, and special events. You can reserve by site number up to eighteen months in advance.

We will transport your camper onto your reserved campsite at Ocean Lakes as often as you wish to stay with us. There are no additional pull fees, unless it is a same day reservation made after 3 PM, then there will be a $25 charge.

If we are 100% full and cannot even move you to another site, then we will pull your camper to Lakewood Camping Resort, Pirateland Family Camping Resort, or to the Myrtle Beach State Park for a $50 round-trip charge.

Setup or Breakdown | If you would like your camper setup for you, contact Ocean Lakes RV Center at 1-800-226-7716. Our team would be happy to set up or break down your travel trailer or park trailer. This is a separate charge.

Moving Sites | When moving from one site to another, walk around your camper and disconnect all utilities and secure all necessary items. Be sure to lower the tongue jack in a downward manner 6 to 8 inches from the ground, except 5th Wheels, which must be at least 48’’ from the ground. This final action will indicate to our Storage Team that your camper is ready to be moved to another site. The Storage Team will unplug your power before pulling off site and plug the power in at the new site.
