Goodbye January, Hello February | An Ocean Lakes Maintenance Update

Can you believe it is already February? Time flies when you are making improvements and beautifying everyone’s happy place!

Our team has been hard at work making things happen in the campground. Our Operations Manager, Kevin, has been a blur in the hallways since Winter rolled in!

We are excited for everyone to see and experience the improvements being made this year. Follow along below for the latest and greatest on everything Ocean Lakes Maintenance.

H Bathhouse Addition and Renovation | We are excited to announce that we are ahead of schedule on the H Bathhouse project. The new anticipated opening date will be February 10th.

Once we complete the finishing touches, we will be unveiling the interior remodel and the 2-Unit ADA Caregiver and Family Bathroom addition!

The primary purpose of these bathrooms is for our guests who are caregivers to family members with special needs. While all five of our bathhouses are handicap accessible, they are not always conducive for the caregivers (such as a spouse caring for a spouse, an older child with special needs, or a parent who needs assistance, etc.).

Both caregiver bathrooms will require a key code for entry. This code can be obtained by calling the Main Office at (843) 238-5636 (after hours, this line forwards to the Main Gate so that Security can assist). The guest’s name and site number will be required to obtain an entry code.

We hope these new facilities are a huge help to our families! We have more planned for 2024.

OL Dredging | Our goal for the dredging of the lake across from Camptown Center, Ocean Lakes, is expected to begin by Monday, February 6th. The purpose of this project is to remove the sediment and increase the capacity of the lake. This will take a few weeks; the estimated completion date is March 1st, weather permitting.

Camptown Center | The Meet n’ Eat is closed for its annual deep cleaning and maintenance work. While it is closed, we are replacing the decking and soffit, as well as installing new customer service windows.

For those that may be wondering, soffit is a finishing material that is installed to cover the underside of the roof overhang. Its purpose is to protect the rafters from the elements.

Side Note: While the Meet n’ Eat is closed, Sandy Harbor Café is open and is offering the full menu.

Let’s Get Together and Go Shopping | Sandy Mart is fully OPEN! We added new hardware and RV gear, installed textured slat wall, removed the mirror posts, and deep cleaned and waxed the floors.

We are also adding a new Icee station, as well as installing an automated handicap entrance. These two additions will not be complete until the beginning of March. We will keep everyone updated on their progress.

Recreation Painting | The Recreation Center will be completing their annual floor painting next week. The Recreation Center will be closed February 5th (after the Church Service) through February 7th, and the Recreation Office will be closed on February 7th. The Recreation Center and Office will reopen on February 8th.

Where’s Sandy? | The Adventure River Tube Sandy has a new home in the campground. Look for this fun photo op at the Ocean Lakes Dr entrance to Sandy Harbor Water Park.

We will be adding a few more final touches to this photo op very soon, including greenery and a backdrop.

Until Next Time | We hope you love the new upgrades in the campground as much as we do. As always with us, there is more to come, so stay tuned – We cannot wait to fill you in!
