The Story Behind Our Newest Addition


Last week, Ocean Lakes debuted their newest addition to the beachfront, which is a special photo opportunity for all guests when visiting their home away from home.

 In this week’s blog, we are giving you the inside scoop on how this special project came to be!

The Birth of an Idea | In November of 2019, the Marketing Team traveled to Knoxville, Tennessee to attend ARVC, which is the National Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds. While attending sessions, the team came across “KNOX” inside the convention center. The letters were made of wood and made quite the statement piece in which all passersby excitedly stood in front for their picture.

Instantly, the Marketing Team looked at each other as if one big lightbulb had lit up above their heads. They knew that Ocean Lakes needed their own letter photo op on the beachfront!

 Pictures were taken, calls were made, and brainstorming began! The Maintenance Team played a big role in bringing this vision to life. They love creatively bringing unique pieces to life for guests and teammates alike. 

Start To Finish | The project blossomed from an idea to being constructed and installed within 30 days! What can we say – We do have an awesome team!

iCare | Our team is committed to our iCare Program, and felt it was only right to construct this project from recycled material. A total of 20 weathered and unrepairable campsite picnic tables were used!

Fun Fact | The overall display is 25 feet wide with each letter being over 6 feet tall. The letters range from 200 to 450 plus pounds each, with the “O” being the heaviest.

Made With Love | The most important fact – Why did we do this? That is simple! Because we love Ocean Lakes as much as our guests, and we love seeing all of the fun family pictures!

Over the years, golf cars have become the main source of transportation around the campground. They are fun, simple, and convenient, so naturally, they are popular.
