Main Gate Expansion | An Ocean Lakes Maintenance Update
As many of our Guests and Annual Lease Site Holders know, we reserve the winter months as a time to complete projects throughout the campground. This past winter was no different; however, one project was not crossed off the list. With this project being essential and beneficial to all, we must move forward with the plans.
Pardon Our Dust | We are doubling the size of our Main Gate. This will provide a larger administrative area, more space to help Security monitor the campground, and assist with late arrivals.
Well Said, Cedric | The Security and Services Manager, Cedric, is excited for the expansion and hopeful for the benefits it will bring:
“The Main Gate expansion will assist Security and our guests once completed. It will allow us to speak with and access guests on the north side of the gate upon their exit. This expansion comes in preparation for having a future dispatcher that will be responsible for viewing cameras in our common areas, which gives the opportunity to be more proactive at handling concerns and issues in those areas. We will be adding a restroom at the Main Gate for our Security Teammates, as well. The additional space is much needed, will benefit all involved, and will increase efficiency.”
Good News and Not-So Good News | We understand the timing is not convenient and this may impact traffic flow at times. We do not expect it to have a big impact on traffic flow; nevertheless, we want everyone prepared (just in case).
This project began before January 1st; however, due to growth in the area, permitting is taking much longer. Good news, we just received permitting to begin, and we are fortunate to have the contractor and materials ready to go and finish as quickly as possible.
Operationally Speaking | Our Operations Manager, Kevin, narrowed down the timeline of the project:
“The foundation and concrete are on the agenda for this week, and the lumber delivery will follow. After this week, the expansion will really begin to take shape. In addition to the expansion, we will be adding new siding and other cosmetic features to match the newly renovated South Gate.
The project is expected to last two months, which puts the estimated completion date between the first and second week of July. Please do not let this concern you – We will work around the holiday weekends.”
