A Proposal, A New Camper, and Lots of Happy Times | An Ocean Lakes Memory

Meeting our guests is one of every teammate’s favorite part of the job. It is what makes it more than “just a job” for many of us. Our guests are truly amazing. They each come from different walks of life, and they each have a story. The stories are what we love – the heartaches, the happy times, and the memories of the Jackson’s. 

This week’s featured Ocean Lakes memory is filled with love and happiness.

Meet Kristin | Kristin is from Cary, NC and has been staying at Ocean Lakes for 21 years. This week, she is describing her favorite Ocean Lakes memory. 

A Beach Engagement | July 18, 2011, will forever be a special day for Kristin: 
“My favorite memory at Ocean Lakes Family Campground happened on July 18, 2011. This is the day I said “yes” when my present-day husband proposed to me on the beach in front of the Observation Deck. What I thought was going to be a beach photo shoot turned into a proposal, and my Mom was there to capture pictures of the momentous occasion!"




Carrying On The Family Tradition | Kristin is continuing on the family tradition at Ocean Lakes: 
“I have visited Ocean Lakes every Summer since I was about 12 years old. I have countless memories of my entire family, including grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins camping at Ocean Lakes. My family continues to camp there even as our family grows with more children. My husband and I have been married for 9 years. We have a 5-year-old son who has not missed a Summer vacation at Ocean Lakes since he was born! It is so exciting to know that he will grow up having his own memories of camping at Ocean Lakes.”


New Camper, New Memories | Kristin and her family are making memories that will last a lifetime with their new camper:  

“Our family bought a camper in 2020 so last Summer was our first camping trip in our own camper! We love Ocean Lakes, and we are so grateful to continue the camping tradition with our own little family!”

Over the years, golf cars have become the main source of transportation around the campground. They are fun, simple, and convenient, so naturally, they are popular.
