Make a Craft, Catch a Show | Ocean Lakes’ May Activities

May is upon us and with it brings an increase in activities offered in the Recreation Center, which means even MORE FUN! We are excited to announce that the Fire & Hula Show is back at the end of the month, so whether you are participating in a craft or taking in a show, there is much to experience when staying at Ocean Lakes. 


Follow Along for all the Crafts and Shows Happening in May | 

Canvas Painting | May 5, 12, 19, 26 | 3 PM | 

This class is perfect for beginners or anyone who loves painting. You are welcome to bring snacks with you to nibble on while you paint. Once completed, you get to take home a beautiful masterpiece that you have the pride of painting all by yourself to hang up and remember your trip to the beach for years to come!

Cost: $20 per person. Pay instructor at the time of class. Supplies and instructions are included in the cost.

Note: 35 Spots Available. Sign-Up in Advance in Recreation Office.

DIY Tie Dye | Monday’s – Saturday’s, 9 AM – 5 PM | Sunday’s, 12 PM – 5 PM | 
Visit the Recreation Office during the times allotted each day to buy your white, pre-soaked 2022 Ocean Lakes T-Shirt to tie and dye all by yourself. We will have a station set up with all the materials necessary for you to tie and dye shirts. There will be printed guidance to help you through the process, but please note, there will not be any teammate available to assist.

Cost:
        3T – XL -> $15 
        2XL – 3 XL -> $18 

Note: The dye is for Ocean Lakes T-Shirts only; other items may not be brought into dye.





Dive-In Movie | May 27th | 8:15 PM | 
This is the one time you can bring a float to the pool! Join us in the Outdoor Pool to watch a PG-rated movie on the big screen. Outdoor pool is open only for movie, no free swimming during this time. 

Cost: No Fee. 

Note: Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

Essential Oil Make & Take | Tuesday’s and Thursday’s | 1 PM | 
Join Mrs. Allen in the Recreation Center to learn how to make your own essential oil products, including sugar scrubs, room sprays, or roller bottle blends. You will learn how they may help your health. Keep them for yourself or share them with your loved ones. 

Cost: $5 and up to cover supplies.

Note: Children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

Family Ceramics | Monday’s – Friday’s | 9 AM | 
This family-friendly activity has become a fun tradition for all guests! You will be able to paint, dry, gloss, dry, and take your ceramic with you the same day. Please be sure to arrive to class on time. All seats typically fill up as soon as class opens. There is a wide variety of ceramics to choose from. 

Cost: All ceramics range from $2.00 up to $40.00, depending on the item you choose.

Note: All ages welcome. Children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult.


Fire & Hula Show | May 30th | 8 PM | 
Join us at the Recreation Center to watch the performers of Polynesian Fire. This Samoan Family comes all the way from the Village of Nu’uuli on the Island of Tutuila to Ocean Lakes. The performers will captivate you with live Polynesian music, ethnic dances, and a Samoan fire show. Guests can purchase tickets in advance or at the door. 

Cost: Adults -> $16
         Ages 3 – 12 -> $8
         2 and Under -> No Cost

Gospel Concert – The Griffins | May 28th | 7 PM | 
Enjoy an inspirational evening of gospel music in the Recreation Center. 

Cost: No Fee.

Nailed it Workshop | May 13th and 22nd | 3 PM |  
Come Join us for a workshop hosted by The Nailed it DIY Studio. If you do not sign-up, we may take a few walk-ins, but that is not guaranteed.

Spring Mason Jar Make & Take | Every Thursday | 3 PM |  
Make your very own Spring Mason Jar with us! We will provide all the materials necessary to paint and decorate your very own unique jar. You can use your imagination to create something or follow the examples we provide for you. The time is takes to finish depends on what you choose to make. 


Cost: Pay Instructor $5 per Jar upon Arriving to Class.

Location: Recreation Center, Room C.

Note: Recommended for Ages 10 and Up.
