Over the years, golf cars have become the main source of transportation around the campground. They are fun, simple, and convenient, so naturally, they are popular. Even Mr. Jackson loved golf cars – But, let’s be honest, he loved anything with wheels!

To accommodate their growing popularity, we have gradually increased our rental fleet at Ocean Lakes Golf Cars, as well as added the Offsite Production Facility (located across the street behind the Neighborhood Walmart) to build custom Club Cars for guests and people in the community (and even farther) to purchase.

Let’s Get Down to Business | We have compiled a list of the top fifteen frequently asked questions at Ocean Lakes Golf Cars. We are a big campground with lots going on every day of the year, so we understand things can get overwhelming and you just want a simple answer.

1. Do you take reservations for golf cars?    
No, we do not take reservations. Golf Car Rentals are first come, first serve. We encourage guests to visit Ocean Lakes Golf Cars upon arrival to secure a golf car as soon as possible. 

2. Do you rent limo golf cars?           
No, we do not rent limo golf cars. We do not have room for them, and we do not have chargers for them.

3. How many golf cars can you rent?             
Guests can rent as many golf cars as they can charge on their site and that will fit on their site. 

4. How much does it cost to rent a golf car?                  
The rental rates are posted on the website: www.OceanLakesGolfCars.com.

5. How many rental golf cars do you have, and do you ever run out?  
We have a little over 1,000 rental golf cars in our fleet. Yes, we do run out, which typically falls between mid-June and mid-August. We start a Wait List when we run out; however, the wait is typically no more than 24 hours for a golf car rental.

6. How much insurance is required on my personal golf car? 
We require $50,000 liability for personal golf cars. 

7. How do I register my personal golf car online?             
Visit www.OceanLakesGolfCars.com, click the “Registration” tab, then scroll to the bottom and complete the form. Once you submit the form, separately e-mail proof of insurance as an attachment to golfcars@oceanlakes.com. After that, you are all set!

8. What are your hours?    
Our hours vary per season, but they can always be found on the website: www.OceanLakesGolfCars.com. 

9. Are your older rental golf cars for sale as is?  
No, our older rental golf cars are sent to our Offsite Production Facility where they are refurbished for sale here at Ocean Lakes Golf Cars for a lower price than the brand-new golf cars.

10. Does Ocean Lakes Golf Cars rent scooters?  
No, they only rent golf cars. The scooters that you see in the campground are rented from outside of the campground.

11. Can we rent for a half day? What time is the rental due back?  
Golf Car Rentals rent and return in 24-hour increments. For example, if a golf car is rented at 9 AM, it is due back at 9 AM the following day. 

12. How old do I have to be to rent/drive? Can I drive with a permit?  
We require guests to be at least 21 years old with a valid driver’s license to rent. To operate a golf car, guests must be at least 16 years old with a valid driver's license.

13. How do I extend my rental?         
Guests can extend their golf car rental; however, this must be done in person and with the same person on the contract BEFORE the due back time.

14. Why won’t my rental golf car charge/run?  
Most of the golf car rentals have a red light on the dash, which is a timer and not a charge indicator. Most believe this is related to the charge, but it is not (it’s not even attached to the batteries). The charging indicator is beneath the back seat and is a flashing green light – The faster it flashes the more it is charged. Once it is a solid green light, the golf car is fully charged.  

15. What if I need to move a golf car that is blocking me in?
To access the tow/run switch, raise the front seat up and look on the back wall behind the batteries - There is a toggle switch, which should be up for run and down for tow. Flip it down, then take the parking brake off. You can easily move the golf car. After moving the golf car, please put the golf car back in run.
