It is that time of year to honor the incredible women that brought us into the world and raised us to be who we are today. Though we should be thankful for mothers every day of the year, it is on Mother’s Day we take the opportunity to show our gratitude.

It can be a bit challenging to know just what to get the women in our lives that deserve it all. So, here is a helpful hint: Gift the special mother’s in your life with something that represents your love for mom and also represents her.

Mother’s Day Vacation | Fill your weekend at Ocean Lakes with fun, family-friendly activities! Our ActivitiesCalendar, located on our website, has all activities listed on a calendar with their time and a brief description. Here is a highlight of what to expect during Mother’s Day Weekend:

Friday, May 10th |
8 AM – Water Aerobics
9 AM – Family Ceramics
9 AM – Adult Mini Golf Tournament
1 PM – Explore Our Beach
7 PM – Bingo

Saturday, May 11th |
1 PM – Corn Toss Tournament
1:30 PM – Feeding Frenzy

9 AM – Worship Service
10:15 AM – Bible Study

Things To Do | When you are not participating in our activities, head down to the beach or enjoy a day by the pool. Want to get active? Join the outdoor fun with shuffleboard, horseshoes, basketball, bocce ball, corn toss, volleyball, skate board, fishing, rent a bike, or play mini golf! Ping Pong can be found inside the Recreation Center, along with books and board games. Try the latest video games, play a game of pool, or revisit some old favorites in Sandy Harbor Game Center. Head over to our Nature Center to visit our guest-favorite animals, and yes, we do have an Alligator! Inside the Nature Center, you will learn about shells, fossils, marine life, and the history of Ocean Lakes Family Campground.

Our campground has much to offer to guests looking for fun and excitement! Mom will love her weekend getaway, as well as the memories you will be creating together.

Honoring Our Favorite Mom’s | Mary Emily Platt Jackson, matriarch of the Jackson Family, was loved by everyone who knew her. Mary Emily was poised and very gracious, teaching her daughters about family and how to love one another while embodying that “sky’s the limit” and “just do it” mentality.


The class, humor, can-do spirit of Mary Emily Platt Jackson is evident in her five daughters. It was not just these skills she passed along to her girls, she instilled a passion and drive in them while allowing each to pursue their own interests.


The five daughters include Emily Vallarino, Laura Hoy, Kaki Williamson, Rachel Gandy and Jeanne Mize. The Jackson Daughters are still actively involved in Ocean Lakes, carrying on their family legacy. This Mother’s Day, not only do we honor Mary Emily, we honor the five daughters.

Over the years, golf cars have become the main source of transportation around the campground. They are fun, simple, and convenient, so naturally, they are popular.
