Outdoor Fun at Ocean Lakes | Campground Conversations

This week, on Campground Conversations, you will hear from the well-known and all-knowing, LeeAnn Halsema, a Recreation Center Supervisor! She is filling you in on what outdoor amenities (aside from our 3-acre Sandy Harbor Water Park and 18-hole Mini Golf Course) Ocean Lakes has to offer.




She is full of energy, always ready to have fun with the Ocean Lakes guests, and loves meeting your pets. Without further ado, meet LeeAnn!



Here is what LeeAnn had to say on the outdoor fun at Ocean Lakes |

Along with our indoor activities, amenities, and events, we have a variety of outdoor fun for our guests to enjoy. We pride ourselves in giving our guests a fun and memorable stay, with various options the whole family can enjoy.


Recreation Center | The 17,000 square foot Recreation Center is the heart of many of the recreational activities and events in our campground. Located on Periwinkle Drive adjacent to Sandy Harbor Family Fun Center, this facility is unique. It is home to our Recreation Team, and they are all about having fun and guest interaction! This is where guests can sign out the sports equipment for our outdoor amenities.

Hours:
-       Monday – Saturday: 9 AM - 11 PM
-       Sunday:  10 AM - 11 PM


Now, let me break it down for you:

Playgrounds | Ocean Lakes Family Campground features two large oceanfront playgrounds! One is located near the HH Section, the other adjacent to the B Section near the vending machines and the swash. Your little ones will have hours of fun on the beach with slides, swings, hanging bars, and bridges. Parents and grandparents love to sit on the benches by the ocean while their littlest blessings burn off some energy and make new friends. 





Exercise Workout Stations | Mix up the morning or evening exercise routine with our oceanfront workout stations. Look for the equipment adjacent to our playground equipment near the HH Section campsites.


Shuffleboard | Enjoy the salty ocean breezes and time with your friends and family. Do not know how to play? Pick up a brochure with the guidelines in the Recreation Office – Sign out the equipment there, too!


Horseshoes | Ocean Lakes has several horseshoe pits on the beachfront located near the B Section sites! Equipment can be checked out at the Recreation Office.

Corn Toss | Grab your friends and family, check out your equipment from the Recreation Office, and enjoy a campground classic!


Basketball | You will enjoy the salt air and the Myrtle Beach sunshine on our basketball court! So, form your teams or just shoot one on one. Basketballs are available through the Recreation Office.


Bocce Ball | Enjoy a game of bocce ball on our oceanfront court! Do not know how to play? Just ask for a brochure on the rules of the game in the Recreation Office when you check out the equipment!

Volleyball | Our oceanfront volleyball court is fun for any guest who wants to play, or just sit in the sand and watch. Sign out the equipment in the Recreation Office.


Sandy’s Down Under Skate Park | Located under the Observation Deck (yes, you read that right… under!), enjoy the ramp, bars, and concrete – Shade, too! Helmets, elbow pads, and knee pads are required (no bumps, bruises, or scrapes allowed on vacation). A parent or guardian must sign a permission form in the Recreation Office for the Skater Admittance Wristband.

In Season: Open 9 AM – 6 PM (Memorial Day – Labor Day)
Off Season: Typically, open upon request, conditions permitting (see the Recreation Office). Normally open for spring breakers at Easter.




Bike Rental | One of the best and most fun ways to see the campground is on a bicycle! The bike paths are as smooth as the views and there’s always so much to see. Bicycle rentals are available by the hour, day or week.  One of the best and most fun ways to see the campground is on a bicycle! Bikes are available in our Recreation office and are available for hourly and daily rates!
Bike Rental Fees:
-       Per Hour - $5
-       Per Day (24 hours) - $15
-       2 Days - $25
-       3 Days - $35
-       4 - 7 Days - $50

Frequently Asked Questions | Ocean Lakes Golf Cars Edition

Over the years, golf cars have become the main source of transportation around the campground. They are fun, simple, and convenient, so naturally, they are popular.
