Pardon our Dust, but this is a Must | An Ocean Lakes Maintenance Update

Each winter, the Ocean Lakes Team kicks into high gear to complete necessary upgrades in the campground, as well as new and exciting projects. This winter has been no different!

We strive to provide a wonderful experience for all of our Guests and Annual Lease Site Holders. Part of that experience includes maintaining the campground, continually making improvements and investing in our campground, and us taking pride in everything we do. Because, after all, everything we do, is for you.

The Best Is Yet To Come |
Our Operations Manager, Kevin McWhirter, excitedly addressed the Ocean Lakes Teammates’ hard work and progress:

“The Ocean Lakes Maintenance, Facilities, and Grounds Teams have been working very hard to coordinate and complete the planned 2021 improvements. This includes the Main Office renovations, facilities repairs, adding storm water drain basins, and more in the works. Our impressive “Team of Talent” completed a notable number of projects already. The January weather has been a bit of a challenge, but the momentum has not slowed down. We are all very proud of where we work, and we are very proud of how our fellow Teammates come together to make it all happen. Please pardon our dust and noise as we finish up these 2021 winter improvements for all of you.”

Investing Back Into The Campground | Kevin went on to discuss how The Jackson Companies, the parent company to Ocean Lakes, continuously invests back into the campground each year. What many individuals may not realize is just how much we annually invest into the water meters, sewer, and electric. Projects such as these are the most important, basic essentials for the campground; however, these are the projects that are less celebrated and less recognized.

“The Grounds, Operations, Camper Transport, and Maintenance Teams all continue to reinvest back into our fleet and facilities. We take pride in all of the visible improvements, but unfortunately some of our more expensive capital improvements go unnoticed. The underground water meters, sewer, and electrical upgrades are scheduled each year and quickly get camouflaged with the high energy of guests, golf cars, and campers. The Jackson Companies continues to reinvest into our Team and into our infrastructure for all of our Guests, Annual Lease Site Holders, and Teammates.”

Follow Along for the Latest Maintenance Update from the Campground |

We Came In Like A Wrecking Ball | No literal wrecking ball was used; however, there were sledgehammers, and maybe even a jackhammer, involved. The Main Office renovation is making great progress, and the Parcel Pick-Up addition to the building began last week. Construction began in November of 2020, and remains on track to be completed before Easter, April 2021.

Smooth Riding From Here On Out | The North Access Trail has recently been spruced up! Our Team has installed and leveled the base stone. They removed the mulch, installed heavy duty fabric, then topped off with Tennessee River Rock. The compacting and landscape bed mulch is in the works, which is essentially dressing up the landscaping.

7000 Reasons For This Upgrade | The 7000 Pond Canal and Sea Oats storm water drainage upgrades are in progress. This is to help properly drain storm water during heavy rain events.

Paving The Way | The North Lake Drive storm water drain basin upgrades have been completed, and the asphalt paving is to follow. Storm water basins were added (the drain grate). Storm water outfall ditches were cleared. This is to help properly drain storm water during heavy rain events.

New and Improved |
The Seaside Drive golf car parking received upgrades. We removed the drifted sand, which allowed for additional parking. We installed 57 Stone Gravel. Additional upgrades, such as compacting the parking are on the schedule.

Views On Deck | The Q and S Beach Accesses’ boardwalk and fellowship deck were repaired, and they look as beautiful as ever! Be sure to check out the view from these decks!

More Golf Car Parking | Cue the church chorus - Golf Car parking pads have been added at Lake Emily and Ocean Lakes (across from Camptown Center).

Where Did All The Campers Go? | Did you happen to notice all of the campers in the RV Center’s lot missing? No worries - The Ocean Lakes RV Center’s parking lot was seal coated and the striping has now been completed.

Luxury Camping | We have added 9 concrete pads in the K Section! Those campsites include: K08, K43, K25, K32, K31, K53, K05, K06, and K15.

Bathhouse interior upgrades are currently in progress. These upgrades include: Painting, lighting, and making plumbing upgrades.

New Roof, Who Dis | A rubber roof is being installed on Sandy Mart! It was just time for a new roof, so we are replacing the flat, non-shingled part of Camptown Center.

Transporting In Style | Our Camper Transport Fleet has received necessary repairs, paint, and upgrades! This project is about 85% complete and remains a work in progress.

Golf Cars Storage Update | The Golf Car Storage Lot was cleaned up, the perimeter edge was expanded, the lot was seal coated, and the striping is in progress.

Until Next Time | WOW, our Team has been busy! Whether assisting guests or improving for guests, there is no question - We love what we do. We are looking forward to another wonderful season here at Ocean Lakes in Myrtle Beach, SC. See you all very soon!
